Purpose
Cascade offers scholarships in order to:

Increase access to public and nonprofit leadership education.

Ensure access for agencies/organizations lacking long-term funds.

Expose new agencies and organizations (those who have not previously participated) to Cascade courses.

Assist agencies and organizations that have traditionally participated but are facing temporary financial difficulties.

Provide a special benefit for members of the professional associations mentioned above.

Eligibility
Scholarships are available to individuals who are employed by public agencies, organizations or associations, special districts, or nonprofit entities and are sponsored by their agency to attend Cascade courses. Evans School students and individuals not affiliated with an agency are generally not eligible for scholarships. In all cases, financial need is a primary criterion for award decisions. In most instances, agencies and individuals will only be eligible for one year of assistance. Thus, recipients should plan to budget for full tuition in subsequent years so that Cascade scholarship funds can be used to help other agencies gain access to management training. Members of the associations listed in the first paragraph should clearly note this affiliation on their scholarship application form.

Application Deadline
Scholarship applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis and will be subject to available funds, and must be received at least 60 days in advance of the start date of the requested course. Participants are encouraged to register and secure spaces in courses pending scholarship decisions. Many courses are expected to fill up, so registering early is the best way to ensure you will be able to take the course(s) you want. Cascade will make every effort to inform participants of scholarship decisions within 3 weeks after receipt of the request.
